  • Audio (.wav, .mp3, and .mp4)

That said, here is how to set up your online file upload form. The main thing you’ll need to do is thing create a file upload form in . If you are going to use the WPForms plugin, you’ll need to install and activate it first. The beauty of WPForms is how it allows you to add file upload fields in any area of your website, besides pages, unlike the Google Form.

You just need to do that, head over to your dashboard and click on WPForms in the left-side panel to create a new form, select Add New, and call it whatever you want. When you have named the way, the next thing is to scroll down to find a section labeled Additional Templates and type “File Upload Form.” Once done, you will have to click on it to open.

Don’t forget to activate the Form Templates Pack Addon so that you can search for this form. A pre-built File Upload Form will be generated by WPForms, displaying the drag and drop builder. The builder will allow you to create additional fields to your contact form, from the left-hand panel to the right-hand panel. The File Upload Form template has the Name, File Upload, Email, Phone, and Additional Comments fields.

To tweak a few things, all you need to do is click on that particular field. You also can rearrange the order of your contact form by clicking on the form field and dragging it where you want on the way. WPForms also allows you to add the File Upload field to any form you’ve created. Just drag the File Upload form field, from the left-hand panel of the Form Editor to the right-hand panel, beneath Fancy Fields.

Also. There are things that you can change by clicking on the File Upload field. They include:

  • Max File Size — By default, WPForms will allow your site visitors to upload files of up to 128 MBs. Therefore, you have to specify the file size to be uploaded by your visitors in megabytes, to avoid this.
  • Required — By selecting this checkbox, you inquire that your visitors have first to upload a file before they can submit their forms.
  • Description — Here, you can give a brief description explaining what the field is all about to the visitors. Whether it is specifically for uploading images, videos, documents, or audio.
  • Label — Help your site visitor distinguish the form field’s purpose by naming it.
  • Allowed File Extensions — Here, you need to put restricted file types to be uploaded to your form, separating them with a comma.
  • Style — There is an option to choose between the recommended Modern style and the Classic style.

File Upload Storage

You can decide to store the uploaded files in the Media Files, although, by WPForms default, all data are stored on your site inside the Uploads directory. If you want to change this, under Advanced Options, select the Store field in Media Library checkbox.

The Classic Style File Upload Field

If you want to change from Modern style to the Classic style upload, you need to understand that this is not advisable. However, if you decide to choose this style, which has a ‘Choose Now’ button, go to Advanced Options >> Style. To select the Classic style, click on the Dropdown menu. Switch to the Classic style is only useful when:

  • Your visitors find it easier to use a ‘button’ style File Upload field
  • Your preference is a more compact File Upload field
  • You want to accept only one upload per field

To reduce the clutter in your form, it is necessary to allow conditional logic on the 1st classic File Upload field. This is before adding other areas. This is to prevent the extra File Upload fields from showing up on your form. This increases the engagement level by making the structure appear more organized and straightforward.

You can allow condition logic on a Classic style Field Upload field by dragging a Dropdown field. This is done above the file upload field from the left-hand panel to the form. Once you are done, click on the File Upload field and scroll down to and increase the Conditionals in the options. There is also an option to get notifications when a visitor submits one of your file upload forms.
